A 56-year-old fell to his death more than 50 meters over steep terrain while hiking on the small Pyhrgas near Spital am Pyhrn. His companion had tried to warn him of a falling rock. But the man from Linz was hit and lost his balance. The 46-year-old could no longer help him.

A walk in Spital am Pyhrn for a man from Linz came to a sad end on Wednesday. The 56-year-old went with an acquaintance (46) to the small Pyhrgas near Spital/Pyhrn. The walk should lead via the Gowilalm. During the climb, however, the couple unintentionally ended up on the so-called Bad-Haller-Steig, which leads towards the great Pyhrgas.

While crossing a gully on the marked path, the companion suddenly alerted the man to a falling stone. She had walked behind him and noticed the impending danger. But the 56-year-old could no longer avoid it and fell 50 meters over steep, rocky terrain.
