Eight months ago, human body parts were discovered under the Seebergspitze in Pertisau on Lake Achensee in Tyrol. So far it only seems clear that it is a male individual. The case remains a mystery.
Horrible idea: someone has a fatal accident in the mountains, but apparently no one cares about that person – for years. This applies to the still unknown body that a hiker discovered in Pertisau on August 23 last year. “The remains were at the bottom of a gully at an altitude of over 1,000 meters below the path leading to the Seebergspitze,” said Martin Roner, local head of the Maurach mountain rescue service. According to police, it is probably a man.
Investigations turned up nothing
“Despite intensive investigations, we do not know the identity of the person or the circumstances of the death,” said police spokesman Christian Viehweider. In such cases, the list of long-term absentees is first checked. If possible, investigators also try to use DNA to determine the identity of the body. However, both measures led to nothing when Pertisau died.
Whenever investigation limits are reached, police rely on the public. For example, if items of clothing belonging to the deceased are kept and published in the media, there is a chance that the public can provide clues as to the identity. However, this was not possible when Pertisau died.
No one cares about Kreith’s unknown death
However, the researchers were able to resort to such a measure for the unknown male corpse found on the Stubaitalbahn section on April 11, 2019. The man, whose body was already seriously decomposed, may have fallen or jumped more than 30 meters from the Kraeither Bridge on the Stubai Valley Railway. Thanks to a witness statement, a ghost image can be seen together with the dead man’s clothing on the homepage of the Federal Criminal Police Office (manhunt). However, the publication did not help clarify the identity.
Hope for „Coincidence of the inspector“
The man, like the unknown dead man in Pertisau, seems unknown to anyone. Only “Commissioner Chance” can help clarify the two mysterious cases.
