In a major survey by the German Embassy in Vienna in 2021, 78 percent said Germans think differently from Austrians, while only 32 percent said the same about the Bavarians. The characteristics people in Austria most associate with our favorite neighbors are ‘thorough’ and ‘trustworthy’ (70% of all respondents) and ‘friendly’ and ‘direct’ (60%) – although 60 percent also consider Germans stubborn.
