A fatal accident occurred in the municipality of Hohenems in Vorarlberg on Saturday evening. A 17-year-old fell with his bicycle on the street in front of an underpass. He died from his serious injuries.
According to the police, the accident with dramatic consequences took place on Saturday at 12.55 pm on the Bahnäckerstrasse cycle path in Hohenems. There was a 17 year old boy riding his bike into town. For an unknown reason, he then left the cycle path just before an underpass and turned right into the meadow.
There he fell from the top of the underpass onto the street below. A cyclist following him immediately called the rescue team and began the first resuscitation measures, which were continued by the quickly arriving rescuers and the emergency doctor. However, the 17-year-old suffered such serious injuries as a result of the fall that he died at the scene of the accident.
The rescue team with an emergency doctor, six emergency services and two vehicles, the Hohenems fire brigade with one vehicle and two emergency services, two crisis intervention teams and the police with four patrols and a police doctor were present.
