A plane from the logistics company FedEx had to land on its fuselage at Istanbul airport. The airport announced on Platform X, formerly Twitter, on Wednesday that the reason was a problem with the machine’s front landing gear. The aircraft was a Boeing 763. No one was injured.
A video distributed by the DHA news agency showed how the Boeing landed and then slid dozens of meters along the runway. According to the report, the cargo plane took off from Paris.

Emergency services were on standby on the runway
The cargo plane took off from Paris. The error was apparently discovered before landing; the pilot had requested the control tower to land with the fuselage, it was said. Emergency services and the fire brigade were then sent to the runway, TRT reports. Emergency crews continued to work through the morning to get the plane off the runway. There was a hydraulic fault in the chassis, TRT quoted the Turkish Ministry of Transport, which referred to a pilot statement.
Boeing Group cannot emerge from the crisis
The incident is now in line with other failures in Boeing aircraft. The company has been in ongoing crisis since the crash of two 737 Max planes that killed 346 more than five years ago. A launch ban of more than twenty months for the machines in the series and problems with other models have meant that the manufacturer has been far behind its European rival Airbus since March 2019.
When a fuselage section from a nearly new 737-9 Max finally broke out on an Alaska Airlines flight in early January 2024, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) took action. Initially, machines were only allowed to start after a technical inspection had been carried out. The production and control processes are also scrutinized by the authority.
