The climate protection group ‘Last Generation’ interrupted a performance of Goethe’s ‘Faust’ at the Burgtheater in Vienna on Thursday evening. The activists shouted slogans, climbed onto the stage and presented banners reading ‘Right to Survive’.
Equipped with striking vests and banners, theater fans of the last generation rose from the audience during the performance to loudly draw attention to their demands. Actors from the production took to the stage during the protest, chatted with the demonstrators and showed solidarity by holding banners with the inscription ‘Right to Survive’ on stage during the Last Generation speech.
According to eyewitnesses, the action received a mixed reception from the public. The police also arrived. Finally, after a break of about 45 minutes, the climate activists peacefully left the stage.
