Woman (105) wants passport – Austria fails as a protective power for South Tyrol

Date:

The Republic of Austria once again fails as a protective power for South Tyrol. The Austrian passport for a 105-year-old catacomb teacher seems far away, politicians lack the will. But legally a lot is possible.

“I was born an Austrian, I want to die an Austrian.” So much patriotism coming from the throat of a real Italian woman is currently causing fear and anxiety among local politicians.

105-year-old fights for Austrian passport
Because the case surrounding the 105-year-old South Tyrolean Hermine Aloisia Mayr (widow Orian) – the former catacomb teacher, as reported, is fighting for an Austrian passport – Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen, President of the National Council Wolfgang Sobotka and the responsible Interior Minister Gerhard Karner was speechless. When asked by the “Krone” they simply did not want to comment on the matter.

The legal situation is clear when it comes to granting citizenship on the basis of extraordinary achievements.

It is simply pointed out that the wording of the legal text focuses on extraordinary services that have already been provided and are yet to be provided in the special interest of the Republic. Probably impossible for a woman of such an advanced age, according to the disparaging words of some officials.

“Wide scope”: law is not the same as justice
Constitutional lawyer Peter Bußjäger has been familiar with the issue for some time and assesses the hesitation of political actors with a mild smile: “Of course, the criterion of the performance that can still be expected is very important, but the federal government also has a lot of discretion here. The most important question is how strictly the federal government has acted in the past.”

Netrebko, Ronivaldo, Solowow: figureheads?
And this is where people like the Russian “Putin friend” Anna Netrebko and the Polish “unfortunately not an investor” Michal Solowow, who received red-white-red citizenship, but in retrospect are not really figureheads, reveal themselves for the Alpine Republic, There were a number of gaps in the legal text.

The current naturalization of the Brazilian legionnaire Ronivaldo in particular raises questions. For example: What achievements can a 35-year-old footballer still do for our country? The fact is that Mrs Mayr only lacks the will…
