The Israeli army has announced that it has opened a new border crossing into the north of the Gaza Strip. Aid routes to the war zone should be expanded in general, especially to the north of the Palestinian territory.
In addition, dozens of trucks that had to deliver flour in the southern Israeli port city of Ashdod were handled on behalf of the UN World Food Program (WFP). An AFP correspondent saw about 30 trucks carrying aid entering the city from the north.
The Israeli army had previously closed the Kerem Shalom border crossing in the east for three days. He was shot at by the Islamist-Palestinian organization Hamas. The army reopened the border crossing on May 8, but aid groups complained they could not receive aid due to a lack of fuel and fighting in the area.
Boden Offensive in Rafah
As reported, the Israeli army carried out a ground offensive in Rafah in the south on Tuesday, including taking control of the border crossing into Egypt (see video above). Since then, the Egyptian government has refused to coordinate relief efforts with Israel.
The war in the Middle East began with Hamas’ major attack on Israel on October 7. 1,170 people were killed and another 250 were taken hostage to the Gaza Strip. Since then, the Israeli army has been attacking the Gaza Strip. More than 35,000 people have been killed so far, according to the Hamas Health Ministry.
