A woman was thrown from a merry-go-round and seriously injured at a city festival northwest of the German city of Stuttgart.
The 55-year-old climbed a carousel with her 20-year-old daughter on Tuesday evening at the “Maientag” festival in Vaihingen an der Enz, a police spokeswoman said on Wednesday.
Shortly after the start of the trip, the safety bars of the two women came loose for reasons that are still unclear.
The daughter was able to hold on, but the mother was thrown from the gondola by centrifugal force. The ride was immediately stopped and the woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The police are investigating the cause of the accident.
