Kremlin angry: – EU plans for frozen funds are “theft”

Date:

Moscow does not want to tolerate the EU’s plans to seize frozen Russian assets.

This is a violation of all norms of the global economic system, the spokesman for the presidential office in Moscow, Dmitry Peskov, said indignantly to the press. The government is still working on a response to such a move. We keep a close eye on how the plans are implemented.

$300 billion frozen
Following Russia’s attack on Ukraine in February 2022, assets worth a total of around $300 billion (about €276 billion) were frozen in the West, the lion’s share of which were in Europe. There has been discussion for a long time about how these funds should be handled. There is agreement that at least the interest income should be used to support Ukraine.
