Two emergency doctors on site, the child was so seriously injured that he had to be flown by rescue helicopter from Bad Goisern to the University Hospital Linz. A 30-kilogram patio door fell on the body of a two-year-old girl while visiting relatives and shattered.
The girl from Seierberg (Styria) was visiting relatives in Bad Goisern in the Salzkammergut with her family when she briefly played alone with her five-year-old brother at the exit of the terrace on Sunday.
Pivot joint worn
The children probably moved the door, which weighed 30 kilograms, and because a hinge was worn out, the door jumped out and fell on the girl. The glass of the door shattered and the child suffered cuts from the shards.
Cared for in the children’s hospital
Two emergency doctors were on site, the rescue helicopter was also alerted and as a precaution the child was anesthetized and ventilated so that he could be transported carefully. The girl came to the Linz University Clinic, the former children’s clinic, where she was immediately treated. It is still unclear how serious the injuries actually are.
