Sad news from the clinic in Innsbruck: the 86-year-old resident who crashed a golf cart into a forest and into a tree in Pertisau am Achensee (Schwaz district) in mid-May died this weekend from his serious injuries.
The tragic accident occurred on May 12. A Tyrolean (54) drove an electric golf cart on a forest road from Pertisau to the Perchertal. His 86-year-old father was also on board.
Before the barrier: the vehicle rolled backwards
The driver had to stop briefly in front of a closed barrier. “When the man briefly left the vehicle, it started moving for an unknown reason and crashed into the adjacent forest together with the 86-year-old passenger,” police said at the time.
After 16 meters, the golf cart crashed into a tree. The pensioner was thrown from the vehicle during the collision and was subsequently left injured approximately ten meters below the vehicle. The son started the rescue chain. After initial treatment on site, the elderly person was flown to the clinic in Innsbruck by emergency helicopter.
The injuries were too serious
There the doctors fought for the man’s life. But the injuries were too serious. As the police reported on Monday, the 86-year-old died in the clinic on the night of Saturday to Sunday.
