Wild scenes took place on the A12 in the Tyrolean lowlands on Wednesday morning: a truck driver from Belarus who had harassed other road users and drove dangerously was chased by the police. The suspect also drove through a closed construction site. To stop the driver, officers even had to fire two separate shots. To arrest!
Around 6 a.m., the police received a report that a truck driver on the Inntalautobahn (A12) towards Germany had been continuously driving in the fast lane since Wattens and was driving in an extremely dangerous and reckless manner, harassing other road users.
Multiple stop signs ignored
“A police patrol was finally able to spot the truck driver on the fast lane near Münster in the direction of Kufstein and turned on the blue lights and the horn. Stopping was initially not possible because the driver ignored several stop signs,” investigators said.

The patrol chased the truck, but the driver apparently did not want to admit defeat. He then even drove into a closed construction site and crashed into the guardrails.
Two blank shots and pepper spray
The patrol finally managed to stop the truck near Wörgl-Ost. “The 37-year-old driver wanted to drive away again, whereupon the intervening officers fired two separate shots into the air,” investigators continued.
After the suspect stopped, pepper spray was used. The driver was subsequently arrested.
Highway closed briefly
After receiving initial care from the rescue team, the 37-year-old was taken to the Kufstein district hospital. Due to the operation, the A12 had to be closed for a short time.
The truck driver is accused of attempted resistance to state authority and various administrative violations.
