The truck from Slovenia, which overturned on the Tauern highway near Flachauwinkl, was recovered on Monday evening. The Tauernautobahn had to be completely closed for five hours.
The rescue operation started after 8 p.m. on Monday evening. A towing company pulled the accident wagon train up with a heavy crane truck. The Flachau fire brigade was also involved: “Our job was to illuminate the accident scene,” says local fire chief Christian Lackner.
Truck overturned near Flachauwinkl
As reported, a truck driver from Slovenia left the road with his tractor-trailer on the Tauern Autobahn heading north near Flachauwinkl on Monday morning and ended up in a ditch.
The local fire brigade is often confronted with such operations: “We had a similar case three weeks ago,” says the fire chief. Driver fatigue is often the cause.
The rescue took about three hours. The total closure also caused a long traffic jam in front of the south portal.
