A 63-year-old Italian woman has given birth to a boy. The woman from the Tuscan city of Viareggio had undergone artificial insemination in Kiev, the daily newspaper ‘La Stampa’ reported on Thursday.
There are no age limits for artificial insemination in Ukraine. The boy was born in the 31st week of pregnancy and weighed two kilograms at birth. Mother and child are in good health, the woman has no partner, it is said.
“Glad that she made her dream come true”
“I did everything I could to dissuade her from her plan, but she was absolutely stubborn,” said gynecologist Andrea Marsili, who assisted in the delivery. “It takes a bit of madness to carry out such a plan, but we are very happy that she has made her dream come true,” said the doctor.
In 2018, a 62-year-old Italian woman gave birth to a girl in Rome. The girl, who weighed 3.2 kilograms, was born via caesarean section. The mother, a nurse without a partner, had undergone artificial insemination therapy in Albania. In 2016, a 61-year-old Italian woman gave birth to a boy in Caserta, southern Italy.
