Bad luck in the Weinviertel – Lenker races past the kindergarten at 131 km/h

Date:

A speeder is causing a stir in the district of Hollabrunn (Lower Austria), racing through the area at a speed of 131 km/h – right past a kindergarten. The driver (unfortunately) did not fall into a police radar trap, but into a monitoring station for research purposes. The publicly dangerous journey therefore has no consequences.

Safety first. Therefore, in the village street near the kindergarten Oberfellabrunn, the speed limit has been 30 for some time. The zone is not protected by a speed trap, but the Road Safety Supervisory Board has built a measuring system for study purposes – when evaluating it , Green Mandator Georg Ecker almost fell in his eyes on the head. “A driver drove past the kindergarten at 131 km/h,” said the MP shocked.

It will no longer be possible to locate the speed gun – because firstly, the dangerous incident took place in October 2021, secondly, the speed was registered but not the license plate.

Green for structural countermeasures
In addition to a restricted area from the direction of Hollabrunn and a new speed measurement system, Ecker is also calling for structural countermeasures – “such as a flat doubling of asphalt to drastically reduce speed on site”. This is technically simple to realize and with about 100 euros per square meter also relatively cheap. In addition, the noise pollution would decrease.
