Five men from the volunteer fire brigade in Schärding encountered an emergency on Friday evening while preparing for a match at the Inn.
The five were on a work boat when a line got stuck in the ship’s propeller. The ship, no longer able to maneuver, was pushed underwater and the crew fell into the water. Four men were able to swim to shore on their own, one had to be rescued with a zille due to the strong current, the fire brigade reports.
Everyone wore life jackets
For the so-called district water defense competition, the team placed buoys at the boat and according to the fire department press release, everyone wore their life jackets as required. Those involved escaped in horror and no one was injured.
