As expected, a heavy thunderstorm moved over parts of Upper Austria on Saturday evening. 115 fire brigades were deployed to pump out cellars, clear roads and extinguish fires. The rescuers and helpers were busy until late at night.
Debris, basement flooding, flooded buildings and flooded roads were the main reasons for the deployment. “The State Warning Center was expanded with staff prior to the storm to handle the increased number of emergency calls received together with neighboring partner control centers,” the State Fire Command emphasized in an initial assessment.
No injuries
A total of 115 fire brigades were deployed on 91 missions. 1,700 emergency services were deployed. The storm operations mainly took place in the districts of Braunau Vöcklabruck, Gmunden, Wels-Land and Linz-Land. According to current information, no people were injured.
