A 14-year-old was arrested in Vienna’s Meidling district on Friday for a brutal robbery. The boy is accused of punching a 62-year-old man in the back of the head and then robbing him.
At around 3.15pm, the 62-year-old was about to open the door of his house when the boy attacked him from behind. The man fell to the ground, whereupon the Austrian citizen took his shoulder bag. The young robber ran off with the loot.
The police recognized the wanted person in the park
Only about four hours later, police recognized the 14-year-old in Wilhelmsdorfer Park and arrested him. The boy stated that he had dumped the 62-year-old’s shoulder bag in a dumpster. This was later seized by officers.
The teenager had addictive substances – probably cannabis – and cash worth 1,570 euros. He was taken to jail and further investigation is underway.
