Excitement surrounding a tourist ship near the popular holiday resort of Grado in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region: Water in the engine compartment caused the boat with 76 passengers on board to get into trouble off the coast on Wednesday.
The ship was en route from Grado towards Trieste when water entered the engine compartment. The captain then raised the alarm. All passengers were brought to safety in time by rescue boats, the Grado coast guard confirmed. No one was injured.
After the emergency measures, only the crew remained on board. The ship, built in 2023, would have to be towed ashore, the report said. Coast guard ships and helicopters coordinated the rescue operation.
