Due to a technical error, Vienna University of Applied Sciences WKW accidentally sent confirmations of study places to 480 people, which they had to withdraw the next day due to the limited number of places.
At the universities of applied sciences, there are only a limited number of places available per course, for which you must register through an admission procedure.
The email with the incorrect confirmation asked applicants to officially register and transfer the tuition fee within four days, otherwise the place would be given to the next person on the waiting list.
Students rejected other study places
Due to the false acceptance by the WKW University of Applied Sciences, applicants have been rejected for study places at other universities, the college admits to the ‘Kurier’. However, these people cannot be guaranteed a place, because there are only a certain number of government-funded study places per bachelor’s and master’s degree program. Instead, the FH advises to inform the other universities about the incorrect acceptance.
Those affected are on a waiting list
The affected people are now on a waiting list. A similar problem occurred in 2014, although according to academic director Beate Huber, a different technical system was responsible for this at the time.
