The improvement in the weather attracted many motorcyclists to the Tyrolean roads on Friday. As a result, unfortunately some accidents occurred in the Zillertal and Söll. Two men collided with cars and another crashed into the bridge railing. They were taken to hospitals.
The first accident happened shortly after 2 p.m. on Friday in Hainzenberg in the Zillertal, where a 71-year-old German from Bavaria was riding in a group of motorcycles towards the Gerlos Pass. In a right bend, for unknown reasons he ended up on the left side of the road, where a driver (56) came towards him. The car and motorcycle collided sideways, causing the 71-year-old to fall and suffer serious injuries.
After receiving initial care from the emergency physician, he had to be flown to Schwaz Hospital. The B165 (Gerlossrasse) was difficult to pass for about 40 minutes after the accident.
German crashes into a stone wall as he falls
Less than two hours later, another cyclist (42) from Germany was injured in a collision with a car in Söll (Kufstein district). The 25-year-old driver of the car had apparently overlooked the man at an intersection. The Bavarian tried to swerve to the left, but was still hit by the car. The 42-year-old fell, hit a stone wall and injured himself. The rescue took him to the district hospital in Kufstein.
A local man hits the bridge railing
A third motorcycle accident took place on Friday evening around 8 p.m. on the L216 in Stumm in the Zillertal. On the Ziller Bridge, a 29-year-old local resident lost control of his two-wheeler for unknown reasons, crossed the opposite lane, collided with the sidewalk on the left side of the street and crashed into the bridge railing. The 29-year-old was so seriously injured in the accident that he had to be flown by helicopter to the clinic in Innsbruck after first aid from the emergency doctor.
