Above all, investigating a block handling is a hot topic. What unites the border region of Salzburg and Bavaria: Criticism of the planned extension of the A8 motorway between Salzburg and Bavaria.
The tourist traffic along the Tauernautobahn demands the patience of the residents of Salzburg, but also of the Bavarian border municipalities. That is why there was a traffic jam on Thursday with State Secretary Stefan Schnöll and about 20 mayors from both countries in the border region. The block settlement planned by Salzburg for the Walserberg was not well received by the Bavarian government in Munich. Transport Minister Christian Bernreiter has already threatened EU infringement proceedings. Incidentally, the minister was not present at the summit.
The investigation of the block treatment was, of course, a big topic, which the Bavarian local chiefs are looking at quite critically. And Salzburg objects: Because the border controls of the Germans can also be seen as block processing.
The debate was reportedly heated at times. However, everyone agreed on a few points: the expansion plans for the A8 motorway and, at the same time, the brakes on the expansion of the railway line are being criticized. “There is solidarity in the border area,” says Schnöll, who reports that the talks were good.
