Spectacular accident Thursday in Tyrol’s Ötztal: A truck driver (24) lost control of the rain-soaked road, after which the van slipped, crashed into a wall and overturned. The young man and his passenger (28) were injured. The salvage and clean-up operations were complex.
The 24-year-old resident was driving the truck out of the valley on B186 Ötztal Straße when the vehicle suddenly skidded on the wet road in a left turn at Längenfeld. “The truck then turned on its own axis, the passenger side crashed into a stone wall and overturned. As a result, the Ötztal Strasse was completely blocked for the time being,” the police said.
Operation took hours
After the alarmed Längenfeld fire brigade pulled the vehicle to the side a bit, the road was open again for at least one lane. It took several hours to recover the truck.
With rescue to the hospital
The driver and his passenger (28) were injured in the accident. The 24-year-old had to be transported by ambulance to Zams hospital.
