Rammed while turning – motorcyclist dead after crash with notorious drug driver

Accident drama in Braunau (Upper Austria): A motorcyclist was overlooked by a driver while turning and was knocked over. The motorcyclist was thrown against a concrete base and was fatally injured. The driver, a 49-year-old German, did not have a driver’s license and used drugs – not for the first time.

The 49-year-old German, who lives in Schärding, drove from Germany to Braunau on Tuesday evening in the car of his partner, who was sitting in the passenger seat. When the two wanted to turn to a snack stall in Braunau around 8:20 p.m., they collided with the motorcyclist.

Thrown against concrete base
The 28-year-old Syrian, who lives in Braunau, fell from his motorcycle and was thrown against a concrete base. Despite attempts at resuscitation, he died at the scene of the accident. The 49-year-old and his 44-year-old passenger were injured to an undisclosed extent and were taken to Braunau am Inn hospital and treated as outpatients.

Drugs and no driver’s license
A drug test on the driver of the car came back positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine and the clinical examination found him unfit to drive. The investigation also revealed that the 49-year-old’s driver’s license had been revoked years ago due to drug abuse.
