The escaped double murderer from Berlin has been arrested. He was arrested late Saturday evening by Brandenburg police officers after tips from the public.
According to police, the 50-year-old was arrested around 11 p.m. According to a police spokesperson, he is now back in Tegel prison in Berlin. The successful arrest came about after a tip from the population in the Märkisch-Oderland district.
Escape at the first unescorted exit
The criminal used his first unescorted exit to escape from Tegel prison on Thursday afternoon. According to the justice department, he has been regularly given the right to leave since 2005.
According to the judicial records, the man committed two murders in 1995 and was therefore sentenced to life imprisonment. A Justice spokesperson did not provide details. According to the Berlin public prosecutor’s office, the man was convicted in the capital in November 2001.
