Four people, including two children, were killed in a Ukrainian attack on Crimea on Sunday. According to Russian reports, 151 others were injured. On the same day, one death and ten injuries were reported in Russian attacks on the city of Kharkov.
On Monday evening, the Ukrainian army again attacked targets on the annexed Crimean peninsula. There were several explosions, the Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform reported. Authorities in the port city of Sevastopol issued an air raid siren, in contrast to the attacks that day. The consequences of the new attack were initially unclear; videos and images of fires were published.
Crimea is a key staging area for the Russian military and is home to the bases of the Black Sea Fleet and the Russian Air Force. The peninsula has therefore increasingly become the target of Ukrainian attacks in recent months.
Rocket explodes over the beach
On Sunday, the port city of Sevastopol was attacked with ATACMS missiles. An intercepted rocket exploded over one of the beaches. According to Russian reports, a building caught fire. Four people, including two children, were killed in the attack. On Sunday evening, Russian authorities spoke of 151 injuries. Children still require treatment in intensive care. The information could not initially be independently verified.
Tall buildings damaged
Meanwhile, the war enemy attacked the eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv on Sunday. One person (73) was killed and ten others were injured, including two teenagers. Kharkiv is close to the border and is one of the worst hit cities in the country (see video above). It had been attacked with bombs the night before. According to Governor Oleh Synehubow, there were three impacts in different densely populated areas of the city. Several tall buildings were damaged.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy again called on the West to provide more extensive weapons and permission to attack Russian territories. “The Russian air force must be destroyed where it is and by all effective means,” he said in his daily video address on Sunday.
