A 13-year-old student drove his e-scooter through a red traffic light in Vienna-Favorité on Friday afternoon and collided with a tram.
The boy suffered serious injuries in the fall, according to police. The accident took place at the intersection of Quellenstrasse and Steudergasse. Despite the red traffic light and the approaching tram, the student would have entered the intersection.

The bim driver tried to prevent worse with an emergency stop. However, the front set caught the rear wheel of the e-scooter. The 13-year-old fell and was seriously injured. “The boy received emergency medical care from the Vienna professional rescue service and was taken to a hospital,” said police spokesman Markus Dittrich.
