During his visit to North Korea, Russian President Vladimir Putin made a mistake: he gave ruler Kim Jong-un a limousine containing parts from South Korea, Kim’s “enemy number one.”
This is evident from customs documents. One part is said to have been manufactured in Russia and another in South Korea. China and EU countries are also among the suppliers of the luxury car Aurus Motors. The war in Ukraine has not stopped Russia from supplying cars and motorcycles. On the contrary: the company founded in 2018 wants to expand production by using a former Toyota factory.
Not the first car for Kim
As reported, Putin was on his first state visit to North Korea in 24 years. The two rulers signed a partnership agreement (see video above), which includes mutual assistance in the event of attacks. Issues of economic cooperation and international security were also discussed. The North Korean government is supplying Russia with ammunition and missiles for the war in Ukraine. Forces are also expected to be sent in July.
Putin has already given Kim two Aurus cars: a first during the North Korean’s visit to Moscow in February and a second, slightly modified model during his own visit to North Korea in June. However, this obviously contained components from South Korea, as customs documents show.
