A man carrying a crossbow was shot dead outside the Israeli embassy in Belgrade after firing an arrow at a police officer.
According to the Interior Ministry, the attacker wounded the officer in the neck, after which the officer used his firearm in self-defense and killed the attacker.
Injured police officer undergoes surgery
Interior Minister Ivica Dačić said the police officer regained consciousness after the attack and was taken to Belgrade’s main hospital, where surgery will be performed to remove the bolt from his neck.
The identity of the attacker is not yet known. “All circumstances of the attack and possible motives are being investigated,” Dačić said, according to “Spiegel”.
