“F****** Putin Regime” – Party and Politics: Nova Rock Back to Its Old Form

Date:

Instead of rain and mud there was sunshine and dust. The Nova Rock returns to its pre-corona form.

How much politics can music tolerate? Can music be apolitical at all? The obvious answer: yes. The third Nova Rock Day proved that celebrations and global political responsibility are not necessarily mutually exclusive.

Early in the afternoon, metal band Jinjer brought a moment of pause over the dusty field of Pannonia Fields. The quartet around frontwoman Tatiana Shmailyuk is from Donetsk and is on a peace mission. “We want to draw attention to the problems and destruction in our homeland,” she silenced the audience. “We thank you for the humanitarian aid and support against Putin’s regime.”

Just minutes later, Electric Callboy took the stage, covering the field with Electro Metalcore and plenty of humor. The fact that it felt like twice as many fans were celebrating in front of Placebo’s stage as the night before also proves that there is a musical generational change and the fans are probably wanting more heaviness again.

Seiler and Speer headlined alongside Volbeat and played all the hits. Christopher Seiler recalled 2016 in the “Krone” lecture. “After the performance, I mingled with the audience and slept in a tent. The way back the next day was a walk of shame.”

Today we continue again. IA. with Billy Talent, Wizo and Minisex.
