Armed bank robbery late Friday night in Innsbruck. A masked perpetrator stole money and fled. Two suspects were arrested during a large manhunt. The investigation is still ongoing. Explosive: The same bank was robbed by an unknown perpetrator in mid-April.
The attack took place around 10:45 a.m. The BTV branch on Innsbruck Mitterweg in the west of the city was hit. “A masked and armed perpetrator stole money and then fled,” police spokesman Christian Viehweider told the “Krone”.
Alarm search: Suspects in sight
Police immediately launched an alarm search. The police helicopter also circled above the city. Two suspects were arrested during the operation, the police spokesman said.
Whether there is a connection between the people and the attack “is currently being investigated.” The investigation is progressing rapidly.
Employees were shocked
In any case, the alarm and crime scene investigation has been completed, it was said early in the afternoon. Fortunately, no one was injured in the attack, the police announced earlier in the day.
Bank branch robbed in April
The bank that was robbed was the same branch where an armed robbery took place in April. The unknown perpetrator had lost banknotes during his escape at that time.
