Air defenses increased – Moscow is again under drone attack for a long time

Three other people were injured. Belgorod, which borders Ukraine, is the Russian region most often attacked. On Thursday evening, further mutual drone attacks were reported, including an attack on the Russian capital Moscow. The incident ended mildly, with the drone shot down near a small town, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said.

Unlike Belgorod, Moscow, almost 700 kilometres away, is rarely targeted by Ukrainian drones. The last time an attempted attack was reported was a month ago. Last summer there were consequences when, among other things, the economic centre of Moscow City was hit. Since then, the air defences have been greatly strengthened.

Puffer zone in Kharkiv
Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the armed forces are currently trying to create a buffer zone in the Kharkiv region in northeastern Ukraine. This is intended to protect Belgorod from attacks. Russian troops launched a new offensive a few weeks ago.

On Thursday, the capture of another town was reported. The village of Voskhod is located near a section of the front where Russian troops have been rapidly capturing territory in recent weeks. According to Ukrainian information, the current fighting in the Donetsk region is currently the fiercest on the entire front line. The Ukrainian army is struggling with a shortage of ammunition and weapons. Putin is demanding that Ukrainian troops withdraw from the four regions he has declared annexed in order to achieve peace.
