A fight in a supermarket in Vienna-Meidling caused a stir. A group of men left a trail of destruction in the aisles. Fruit and vegetables were used as projectiles. Eventually, the police had to intervene.
Movie-worthy scenes took place in a popular supermarket in Vienna-Meidling. A group of potential Rambos literally tore the place apart. In total, three men aged 22, 23 and 25 were involved. According to the Vienna police, they started shouting and throwing food around for no apparent reason. A customer (36) and his partner were suddenly attacked and injured – they were taken to hospital.
Employees not involved in the fight
The incident happened on July 4th around 7pm. A witness took out his mobile phone and made a video (see below). Since then it has been circulating on social media and has left people speechless. The men attacked each other with kicking techniques and martial arts grips. Fruit and vegetables were used as projectiles. Employees were not involved and did not intervene. They alerted the police.
Damage worth approximately 500 euros
The fight started in the vegetable department and went through the entire supermarket to the checkout. In just a few minutes, food worth 500 euros was destroyed, reports Hannes Glavanovits, advertising manager at Spar.
One of the attackers was heavily intoxicated
The trio then filed a complaint with the police. One of the men was temporarily arrested for his alcoholism and aggressive behavior. “The motive of the men is currently unclear, the interviews are still ongoing,” police spokesman Markus Dittrich told the “Krone”.
