Trump after assassination attempt: – “Only God prevented the unthinkable”

Date:

After the assassination attempt on him, former US President Donald Trump called for unity. “Only God prevented the unthinkable,” Trump wrote on Sunday in the online service he founded, Truth Social.

“At this time, it is more important than ever that we stay united and show our true character as Americans,” the 78-year-old wrote, a day after witnessing the attack (video above) at a campaign rally in the United States. The US state of Pennsylvania survived with minor injuries.

Trump, who is running against incumbent Joe Biden in the November 5 presidential election, urged people to “remain strong and determined to prevent evil from prevailing.”

“Will stand firm against evil”
“We will NOT be afraid, but will remain steadfast in our faith and defiant in the face of evil. (…) I love our country and all of you, and I look forward to speaking to our great nation this week from Wisconsin,” Trump continued, striking an unusually friendly tone in the post.

Next week, the Republican Party Convention begins, at which Trump will officially be chosen as the presidential candidate. According to his campaign team, Trump wants to participate.

Top Republican calls it ‘miracle’
Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson expressed relief after the relatively mild assassination attempt on Trump. “We all saw what appears to be a miracle,” Johnson said on NBC. The bullet was apparently just “a millimeter” away from causing “real, permanent damage” or even killing him.
