On Monday morning, a fire broke out at the art university on the central square of Linz, leaving parts of the city center without power again. A fire raged there on Friday evening, causing a power outage in large parts of the old town.
Shortly after 6 a.m. on Monday, the Linz fire brigade was alerted: a fire had broken out in the art university on the central square. Thick clouds of black smoke were coming out of a ground-floor window of the bridgehead building on the left, seen from Urfahr.
The cause of the fire is again likely to be a technical problem. As a result of the fire, the affected electricity grid had to be switched off, leaving parts of the city centre without power in the early hours of the morning. Fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries so far.
Fire just three days ago
Just a few days ago, on Friday night, the sirens were blaring because of a fire at the art university. As reported, a high-voltage system in the second basement had caught fire.
“Due to the fire in the high-voltage area, a large part of the old city center had to be disconnected from the electricity grid. By disconnecting the affected electricity grid, the spread of the fire could be efficiently prevented,” according to the Linz fire brigade.
