Helicopter rescue – hiker fell 100 meters above snowfield

Once again, a field of old snow in the mountains of Tyrol proved fatal for a hiker. The 42-year-old fell about a hundred meters and sustained serious injuries. A helicopter had to come to the rescue.

According to the police, the 42-year-old German had gone on a mountain hike to the Hochvogel near Hinterhornbach in the Ausserfern. The man then wanted to walk with a guide via the so-called Kalten Winkel to the Kreuzspitze.

At around 2:45 p.m., the 42-year-old slipped while crossing a snowfield and fell about a hundred meters onto the icy surface. He sustained significant injuries. His colleague raised the alarm. The victim was rescued from the rescue helicopter using a rope and flown to Zams Hospital.
