Once again, an animal transporter was targeted by the Tyrolean police. During an inspection on the Inntal motorway near Weer (Schwaz district) on Saturday morning, officials discovered that the truck was significantly overloaded and that the water supply for the calves was inadequate. In general, the Hungarian driver did not seem to take the rules too seriously.
Shortly after 07:30, the livestock transport truck loaded with 142 calves was examined by the police at the parking lot along the highway at Weer-Nord. Officials initially determined that it was overloaded by more than one and a half tons.
Transport time exceeded
It also quickly became clear “that the water supply for the animals was inadequate and that the transport duration and planned travel stops were not adhered to,” the researchers say.
This was also confirmed by the official veterinarian who was called in. “The transport documents were also inadequate because the required official signature was missing. According to the official veterinarian, the transport should not have started in the Netherlands in the first place,” the researchers continued.
Special notice due to the risk of epidemics
A four-digit Euro class deposit was collected from the 37-year-old driver from Hungary. “After a special decision was issued, the carrier had to continue driving because unloading was not possible due to the current risk of animal diseases – bluetongue disease in the Netherlands and Germany,” the report concluded.
