Date:

The funds “can be used for activities that help restore the safety of the district’s students, faculty, staff and families.”

United States President Joe Biden announced Monday that $1.4 million ($1.5 million) has been sent to the Uvalde school district following the shooting carried out by an 18-year-old, which left 19 children and two female teachers were left behind. murdered at Robb Elementary School.

“The United States Department of Education has expanded the Biden administration’s response to the tragic Robb Elementary School mass shooting by paying a $1.5 million grant from the School Emergency Response project to the Violence (SERV, for the acronym in English). ) to the Uvalde Independent School District,” said a White House statement.

He explained that the funds “can be used for activities that help restore the safety of district students, teachers, staff and families, and that address the specific needs of people directly affected by the shooting.”

Senators from the Republican Party and the Democratic Party could soon propose a joint bill to increase, even minimally, gun control in the United States.

The agreement would contain a set of principles, with no formal text yet in place, so that the initiative would have a long legal history. Still, it would be great progress given the divisiveness this issue is causing despite recent attacks such as the one at the school in Uvalde, Texas, in which a young man killed 19 children and two teachers.
