The Provincial Council of Bizkaia, for its part, has assured that it will analyze the reduction from 17% to 15% of the corporate tax, but rejects the abolition of the wealth tax.
The second deputy lehendakari and adviser for Economy, Labor and Employment, Mikel Torres, finds it “a bit shocking” that in a year of “record profits” for companies, Confebask is asking for a reduction in the tax burden and has assured that the proposals it defends “are not about cutting taxes, but about maintaining fair taxes for companies that contribute to public services.”
In an interview for Herri Irratia Radio Popular, Torres referred to the tax proposal presented last Tuesday by Confebask, which, among other things, proposes to reduce the minimum corporate tax from the current 17% to 15%. Given Confebask’s proposals, he pointed out that “they are proposals that have always been on the table”, so they are not surprised.
In this sense, the general deputy of BizkaiaElixabete Etxanobe, who has said that the Provincial Council of Biscay will analyse the reduction of corporate tax from 17% to 15% raised by Confebaskbut rejected the abolition of the wealth tax, which would “remain as it has been until now.” In the case of Cebek”, he said that they share with Confebask “part of the vision” that it expresses in the sense that taxation is “a very powerful and important tool to attract companies to the area”, and also that “it is these companies that generate economic activity and employment”. In this sense, he said that he “fully agrees with the proposal” of the Basque employers’ association.
