Already final: 30 months in prison for ex-police officers for drugs

Date:

Because he allegedly ordered large quantities of drugs on the Darknet for himself, his ex-partner, family members and acquaintances and ultimately even conducted his own research, a 34-year-old police officer and his ‘ex’ have been handed partial prison sentences at the regional court in Wels.

30 months in prison, 10 of which are unconditional! The ex-police officer, who was accused of drug trafficking and abuse of public authority, is facing a prison sentence of almost a year and was sentenced on Thursday by the regional court in Wels. However, he was acquitted of other crimes: “The charges were put into perspective as a whole and that is why there was also a partial acquittal,” explains Andreas Meissner, lawyer for the convicted police officer. In any case, the convicted man confessed to most of the other charges.

Numerous accusations
The 34-year-old is said to have ordered two kilos of amphetamine and approximately 200 grams of ecstasy between 2017 and 2023 for himself and his wife, but also for family members and acquaintances on Darknet. When a shipment was delivered to his own address under a false name, the agent even went on his own investigation. He also made evidence disappear when he replaced the seized medicines with creatine powder, a legal muscle-building agent, on the way to the storage location. A package of medicine was even delivered to a mailbox at his own office.

Treacherous chats
There were also numerous allusions and thinly veiled conversations about drugs, deliveries and transfers in chats. Personal data or even entire files were also sent by the police officer to his ex and other acquaintances. The police officer also falsified a confirmation that his brother had lost his driver’s license due to drugs, as well as some Corona documents. Ultimately, a nude photo of a minor was also found among the leaked internal police information.

On Thursday, the police officer’s ex-partner was also sentenced: she received a suspended prison sentence of ten months and must also pay a fine of 7,680 euros. Although Wels’ sentence is final, the case is not over for the suspended police officer. The disciplinary committee must still decide what the legal consequences will be. But it is already certain that the police officer will be fired.
