Major donors reassured – US vice president: “Biden will win the election”

Date:

US Vice President Kamala Harris has assured major Democratic donors that Joe Biden will win the November presidential election, as he faces mounting pressure from party donors and his own party to withdraw from the race for the US presidency.

“We will win this election,” Harris said in a call with major party donors. “We know who the American people will put first in this election: our President, Joe Biden.” Shortly before, Biden had reaffirmed his commitment to remaining in the race for the U.S. presidency.

“Newly emerged needs”
According to a person familiar with the matter, Harris attended the call “at the direct request of senior advisers to the president.” Major Democratic donors were invited to a 30-minute briefing to discuss “urgent emerging needs.”

Biden counts as counted
In recent days, the number of people who have questioned Biden’s physical and mental fitness for his candidacy and his chances of winning has grown steadily, some publicly. More than 30 Democratic senators and members of the House of Representatives have publicly endorsed his proposal.

Will Harris take Biden’s place?
Several major Democratic Party donors have indicated they could withhold their money if Biden remains in the presidential race, according to insiders. US Vice President Harris is being discussed as a possible replacement for Biden.

Biden wants to resume his election campaign
The incumbent president, who is currently isolating due to a coronavirus infection and has not appeared in public, has so far appeared unfazed by the rebellion within the party and has announced that he will return to the election campaign next week.

According to American media, the 81-year-old no longer categorically rules out a withdrawal, given the enormous resistance within his own ranks.

According to media reports, the party’s front ranks are also trying to get Biden to retreat behind the scenes. Biden’s former boss, former President Barack Obama, is also said to have expressed his concerns.
