Finally! After its difficult birth, Austria’s first baby gorilla can finally be visited at the Schmiding Zoo (Upper Austria). The little ape is usually out and about with its mother in the indoor area of the enclosure and can be admired there at certain times.
Gorilla mother ‘Kibbi’ was so exhausted after the difficult birth that she could not take care of her offspring for the time being. Little “Jabari” was cared for by zookeepers and the animal duo is now doing well again at the Schmiding Zoo in Krenglbach.
Traveling with a group
Mother and baby are usually together indoors, looking for food or hanging out with the group. Under the supervision of the staff, visitors are allowed to get a first look at the adorable primate at the following times: daily from 10:00 to 11:00, from 15:00 to 17:00.
