Horrible mountain drama on Sunday in Leutasch in the Tyrolean district of Innsbruck-Land: a climber fell to his death several hundred meters in the area of the so-called “Devil’s Ridge”. After the man did not come home, his wife raised the alarm. During a search flight, a body was then discovered.
According to the police, the climber had planned a trip over the Wangscharte to the Dreitorspitze in the Leutasch Wetterstein Mountains. He also had to cross the so-called “Devil’s Ridge”. A terrible accident also occurred in this area.
Body discovered during search flight
“After the man did not come home between 3:00 and 4:00 p.m., his wife alerted the emergency services,” the director reports. During a search flight with the Libelle police helicopter, a body was eventually spotted on a gravel slope below the “Devil’s Ridge”.
Autopsy ordered
It is probably the missing one. “According to previous findings, the climber probably fell in the ridge area. He then fell about 250 to 300 meters over the vertical south wall of the Schüsselkarspitze to the foot of the wall,” the researchers continued.
An autopsy was ordered by the Public Prosecutor to determine the precise identity.
