A mother (58) and her daughter (17) had a big fright on Tuesday afternoon in Tyrol: For unknown reasons, the duo drove off the road on the Zillertal highway shortly before the Brettfall tunnel in Schlitters and fell into the bushes. Both were able to free themselves from the car. The fire brigade had to clear the scene of the accident before the wreckage could be recovered.
At around 15:40, the 58-year-old drove her car from Schlitters along the B169 towards the Inntal. Her 17-year-old daughter was in the passenger seat.
The prisoners were unharmed
“For unknown reasons, the driver went over the right edge of the road and the vehicle collided with a traffic sign,” police said. It then slid along the guardrail, was thrown by the guardrail into the adjacent ditch and came to a stop on its wheels. The two occupants were unharmed in the accident.
The tunnel had to be closed
The car was secured by the Schlitters Volunteer Fire Department and recovered by a towing company. The Brettfall Tunnel was closed during the accident investigation and rescue efforts. “The closure caused traffic delays and traffic jams,” the driver said.
