The French National Railway Company has asked passengers who can postpone their journeys “not to go to the stations”.
The French National Railway Company (SNCF) has denounced this Friday a “massive attack” on its high-speed train network, a situation that affects three of the four lines in the capital Paris and that takes place hours before the opening ceremony. The Olympic Games.
“Following this massive attack, aimed at paralyzing the high-speed line network, a large number of trains were diverted or canceled,” the company said via its social network account, and postponed their journey so that they “did not have to go to the stations.”
Thus, it specified that the network was “the victim of several simultaneous malicious acts” affecting three lines, and stated that “fires broke out, deliberately caused to damage the facilities.”
The company stressed that the fourth line was not affected after an attack on it was “dismantled”. “Our teams are on site to carry out the diagnosis and start the repair”, he indicated.
However, he acknowledged that traffic on the Atlantic, Northern and Eastern lines “has been severely affected”. “Some trains have been turned around, while a large number have been cancelled”, he concluded, without claiming responsibility for these actions for the time being.
