A man wearing a motorcycle helmet was sighted around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday and hit a pedestrian several times in the back of the head on Leberstrasse in Vienna-Landstrasse. The witness also reported that the suspect then shot with a pistol before fleeing on a moped. The victim also left the crime scene.
After this incident, the witness alerted the police, who were able to obtain a cartridge case on the spot. A suspect, reportedly a 39-year-old Serbian national, was identified by the moped’s registration number.
Suspect arrested, search for victims
The public prosecutor in Vienna ordered his arrest. The Vienna State Police has taken over the official act. The victim is asked to report to a police station, where information about the incident is received – confidentially and anonymously if desired.
