Fire alarm early Sunday morning in Kössen in the Tyrolean district of Kitzbühel: a car suddenly caught fire in the garage of a residential building. The owner and other residents arrived with the garden hose. The fire was eventually extinguished by the fire brigade.
Around 6:30 a.m., the car parked in the garage of the apartment building suddenly caught fire. “The vehicle owner, with the support of other residents of the building, tried to fight the fire with fire extinguishers and a garden hose. After the volunteer fire brigade from Kössen arrived, they took over the extinguishing work,” the police reported.
Technical defect probably caused fire
The emergency services were eventually able to quickly get the situation under control and extinguish the fire. According to the current investigation, a “technical defect” may have caused the fire. “It is very likely that third-party negligence can be ruled out,” the director said.
The car was probably a total loss. The garage was also hit by the fire. Fortunately, no one was injured.
