The police officers were astonished when a boy on an e-scooter raced past them on a country road in Brand-Nagelberg in the Gmünd district. In addition, the young driver was, as it were, ‘glued’ to the bumper of a car in front of him. The police officers connected their emergency vehicle to the two-wheeled speeder – and were even more astonished when they looked at the speedometer: “The youngster was driving at a constant speed of 90 km/h,” the uniformed officers report.
Eventually, the patrol managed to stop the speeder. During the check, the police discovered that the scooter driver was only 14 years old and did not have permission to drive such a vehicle.
On the other hand, the electric scooter was not even registered for traffic. No wonder: the rickety vehicle had serious technical defects. It is a wonder that nothing happened during the fast ride; at least the boy was reported to the district administration.
