Serious riding accident on Saturday afternoon in Tyrol. A horse stepped into a marshy area on the banks of the Walchsee (Kufstein district) and lost its balance. The 22-year-old rider was thrown from the field and had to be flown to the clinic in Innsbruck.
The 22-year-old local woman was riding her horse at walking pace along the gravel path north on the northern shore of the Walchsee at around 4:45 p.m. when the horse suddenly stepped into a marshy area with its left front hoof to the left and lost its balance. “The rider then fell forward onto the pasture,” police said.
No cheating
The young woman suffered significant injuries in the fall. After initial treatment, she was flown to the clinic in Innsbruck by emergency helicopter. “We can rule out third-party negligence,” the director emphasizes. Rescue operations, water rescue services and a police patrol were present.
